KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Group Malaysia is now accepting bookings for the soon-to-be-launched Vento, which has an indicative price range of RM80,000 to RM90,000 (OTR excluding registration and insurance).
The car will be available in three variants – Highline, Comfortline and Trendline.
The Vento is actually a refreshed version of the Polo Sedan that was sold locally from 2012 but has since been discontinued. The Vento gets the same 1.6-litre MPI engine as the Polo Sedan but adds a 1.2-litre turbocharged direct-injection TSI engine, which is positioned as the top Highline variant in the model line-up. The only turbocharged sedan in its class, the Highline engine has an output of 104hp. A 7-speed dual-clutch or direct-shift gearbox (DSG) provides a maximum torque of 175Nm from 1,500rpm to 4,100rpm.
The subcompact car is also sold in India and Mexico under the Vento name.
Volkswagen described the Vento as elegant and dynamic and boasts advanced safety features along with a small engine that is powerful.
The Highline has been awarded a 5-star rating by Asean NCAP and is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), four airbags (front and side), anti-lock braking system (ABS), Intelligent Crash Response System and ISOFIX anchorage point for child seats.
Buyers have a choice of five colours: Candy White, Flash Red, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel Grey and Deep Black.
Interested buyers can book a test drive at the local Volkswagen site. Alternatively, bookings can also be made at authorised Volkswagen dealers.
