KUALA LUMPUR: Over 400 AirAsia Ride drivers across Klang Valley, Johor and Penang will get to experience IGL Coatings' newly launched hydrophobic windscreen coating.
As Malaysia anticipates an increase in domestic and international visitors ahead of the coming monsoon season, the collaboration between IGL Coatings and AirAsia Ride aims to enhance road safety and driving comfort for ride-hailing drivers and passengers across the nation.
The coating enhances water repellency and significantly improves vision clarity on the roads during heavy rain and especially while driving.
AirAsia Ride is the first Malaysian ride-hailing platform to integrate IGL Coatings’ graphene-based visibility technology into its fleet.

A total of 120 AirAsia Ride drivers will be the first to experience the new coating.
The initiative further extends to an additional 300 DIY IGL Window Kits to be distributed across AirAsia Ride drivers, customers and users in Malaysia.
AirAsia Move chief financial officer Ramanathan Thiagarajan said the partnership aligns perfectly with the company's commitment to empower their driver community and deliver the best ride experience for their passengers.
"This is especially important to us as the majority of AirAsia Ride users, being part of the AirAsia Move OTA ecosystem, are travellers on airport transfers who prioritize comfort and safety throughout their journeys,” said Ramanathan.

IGL Coatings founder Keong Chun Chieh adds that the benefits of the coating go beyond just visibility with technology seen as a means to enhance lives.
"Drivers can experience less fatigue with clearer visions over long shifts with heavy downpours, especially under Malaysia’s tropical climate conditions.
"Fewer mechanical demands also mean lower maintenance costs and a smaller environmental footprint.
“From protecting cars and surfaces to now protecting people on the road, this partnership is a meaningful step towards safer roads and a stronger sense of care for those who drive our cities forward,” said Keong.
