KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Proton Saga and e.MAS 5 were revealed recently without camouflaged exteriors, at a public showcase held in conjunction with the Asean Summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Both the cars were viewed with great interest by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Also present at the showcase were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Geely Holding Group chairman Eric Li Shufu, and Proton chairman Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar.

In a statement, Proton says the all-new Saga debuts the national automaker's Advanced Modular Architecture platform, and is the first model to be fully designed, engineered, and validated by Malaysian talent with technical collaboration from Geely.
"The all-new Saga carries Proton’s full intellectual property rights (IPR), representing a major milestone in national capability and proving that home-grown Malaysian talent can design and develop a complete vehicle that meets international standards," said Proton.
The all-new Saga's front end features a wide grille, an Ethereal Bow chrome bar, and LED headlights.
From photos circulating on social media, the all-new Saga's interior gets an integrated panel for the touchscreen infotainment, and a digital vehicle data display.

Meanwhile, developed with Geely’s design and technology, the Proton e.MAS 5 is Malaysia’s first affordable electric vehicle and the second model in the e.MAS line, following the successful introduction of the e.MAS 7 last year.
"This model reflects the nation’s readiness to embrace sustainable mobility in support of the government’s National Energy Transition Roadmap," said Proton.
The national automaker said the public showcase of two of Proton’s upcoming models reflects the success of the partnership between DRB-Hicom Bhd and Geely Holding Group in driving Proton’s transformation to become a modern and competitive automotive company.
"Through this partnership, Proton continues to combine Malaysian engineering capabilities with Geely’s technological expertise to advance the country’s automotive ecosystem, supporting the development of new skills, local innovation, and sustainable growth," said Proton.
Proton pointed out that this milestone also aligns with Malaysia’s aspiration to become a regional automotive hub with the establishment of the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjong Malim, Perak.
