Konsortium e-Mutiara gets new premium MAN coaches

KUALA LUMPUR: Konsortium e-Mutiara Bhd has received its latest batch of seven double-deck coaches, which are built on premium Euro V-specification MAN RR5 26.440 chassis.

The brand new 12.8-metre, 38-seater double-deck MAN coaches, part of a total of 13 units assembled by Seri Kembangan-based bodybuilder Truckquip Sdn Bhd, will be used for the fast-growing Kuala Lumpur-Singapore and Ipoh-Singapore routes.

Passengers can expect a smooth journey in comfort as the MAN coaches feature a 12.4-litre MAN D26 engine with 440hp mated to the MAN TipMatic intelligent transmission with slick gear changes from the start and when manoeuvring in traffic.

For safety, the new MAN coaches are also equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as Electronic Braking Assistance (EBA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Cruise Control as standard.

MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd managing director Marc Appelt officially handed over the coaches to e-Mutiara founder Che Ibrahim Che Ismail and managing director Naemah Ya’acob recently.

With a total order of 67 units comprising both double-deck and single-deck coaches, e-Mutiara is one of the largest MAN coach fleet operators in Malaysia.

Naemah said that the company was always looking forward to exploring new partnerships and learning about new products.

“In MAN, we believe we have found a partner that can grow with us with the right solutions and a total package that includes a comprehensive repair and maintenance contract and telematics. We are pleased with the overall performance of the earlier batch of 13.5-metre, 42-seat MAN Coaches that we had received in July and currently serving our Kota Bahru – Kuala Lumpur route," she said.

"Our coach captains are most satisfied with MAN’s powerful Euro V engine, especially in uphill climbs, retarder braking system and factory-installed speed limitation device that enables safe and controlled descents. Passengers have also commented on the quiet and vibration-free engine that allows them to sleep comfortably during the long journey,” she added.

Appelt said that the company’s mission has always been to ‘simplify business’ for its customers with cutting-edge truck and bus solutions that have proven their worth in real-world conditions here in Malaysia and, more importantly, backed by world-class aftersales support.

“Thanks to the trust placed in us by transporters like e-Mutiara, MAN was able to command the largest market share among European truck and bus brands here in Malaysia in the first half of 2025,” he said.

The partnership with the e-Mutiara has been lauded by MAN Truck & Bus head of sales bus international Hadi Zamani.

“It is a huge step forward for MAN’s coach chassis business in Asia and demonstrates the growing demand for innovative and sustainable transportation solutions in the region among forward-looking transporters,” he said.
