KUALA LUMPUR: The BMW Shorties contest capped off its 10th anniversary this year with 115 short films received, its highest ever.
Because of the number of quality entries, BMW Group Malaysia had to expand the number of finalists from the usual 10 to 12. The journey was done earlier this month and this year's theme was known as "Journey".
The judges were personalities in the film industry of Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. They were Lina Tan, Liew Seng Tat, Lee Chatametikool, Nadira Ilana and Yuni Hadi.
One of the 12 finalists will win the grand prize award of a RM75,000 production grant alongside promising prospects in the filmmaking industry. The 12 finalists’ short films are open for public voting in the People’s Choice Award from Nov 30 to Dec 7 at www.bmwshorties.com.my.
