PARIS: The star of the Oct 30 Artcurial auction here will be a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 (top pic), as driven by James Bond in "Goldfinger".

Originally a "show model" from the 1964 Paris Motor Show, the DB5 is a rare left-hand drive model, which is estimated to fetch €550,000 to €650,000 (RM2.5mil-RM2.9mil).

Artcurial Motorcars is celebrating 10 years of its "Automobiles sur les Champs" auction with a bumper catalogue of almost 80 cars. The sale will see classic cars from across the ages go under the hammer, including models made famous on the big and small screens or in comic books.

Fans of fine Italian automobiles can splash their cash on a 1967 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 (€180,000 to €220,000), a 1995 Lamborghini Diablo VT (€165,000 to €185,000) or a 1968 Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior (€150,000 to €180,000).

The catalogue includes two Alfa Romeo Polizia former Italian police cars from 1969 (€15,000 to €20,000) and 1981 (€8,000 to €12,000). Fans of the Michel Vaillant comic books will be more interested in the 1999 Hommell Vaillante "Grand défi" paying tribute to the series, estimated at €40,000 to €60,000. Finally, buyers with more modest budgets can snap up a 1968 Fiat 500 L, estimated at €8,000 to €12,000.

All the cars on sale at the auction will go on display at the Artcurial private garage here on Oct 29-30.
