The premium compact sedan Peugeot 408, which was revealed in last year’s Beijing Auto Show, uses the EMP2 platform making it a light car that promises better fuel efficiency.

So far, the car is being produced for the China market at the moment but will no doubt reach other markets in Asia and Europe.

As such, the 408’s specifications below is for consumers in China.

Engine choices will be limited to a 1.6-litre turbo with about 167hp and 1.8-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder for base variants.

These are the typical engines fitted to most Peugeot, Citroen and DS models.

The design is surprisingly understated for a French car.

The same sort of headlights with LED technology as on the Peugeot 308 is featured on the front of the car.

The grille is small and discrete, though the “Peugeot” logo in the middle might have a glowing feature.

At the rear, taillight graphics are strangely lacking the “lion claw” styling, which might be added to 408s outside of the China market.

Double exhaust pipes have been fitted, they are subtle and fit flush with the clean bumper.
