BANGKOK: Aston Martin's DB11, which first made its official debut at this year's recent Geneva Motor Show, is the DB9's replacement with a downsized twin-turbo 5.2-litre V12 over the naturally aspirated 5.9-litre V12 on the out-going model.

Costing 25 million Baht (RM3.2mil), with deliveries starting towards the end of the year, the DB11 is rear-wheel driven and has an eight-speed automatic gearbox mated to the 608hp/700Nm engine - which helps take it from 0-100kph in 3.9 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 320kph.

It uses a bonded aluminium platform for the long-bonnet rear-set cab to keep its dry weight down to 1,770kg while having a 51% (front) 49% (rear) weight distribution.

It also gets an aerodynamic tune-up for its sheet metal that predominantly reduces front and rear-end lift as well as a new infotainment system, newly-designed headlamps and wider rear wheel-arches.

Other features include a forward-hinged clam-shell bonnet, 12-inch digital driver's display, centrally-mounted eight-inch screen, rotary controller, 360-degree parking camera, ISOFIX anchor points, larger boot and a 78-litre fuel tank to name a few.

Also on display at the British marque's booth was the one-off Aston Martin DB10 show car, which was created specifically for the James Bond movie - Spectre, and featured the Vantage's 4.7-litre V8 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The hand-built two-door coupe initially had 10 examples created, of which eight were featured in the movie and two were used for promotional purposes. However, one of the two promo cars was recently sold at auction for an alledged £2.4 million (RM14mil).
