NEW YORK: Fast car meets fast guy.

Nissan banked on the star power of Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt, known as "the world's fastest man," to introduce the new GT-R, which made its world debut at the ongoing New York International Auto Show here.

Bolt has been promoting the GT-R for Nissan since 2012 and has been given the quirky title of  Nissan Global Director of Excitement. The Jamaican champion sprinter is part of Nissan's global brand campaign to feature iconic Nissan products and technologies that represent the brand's innovations that excite.

An association between Bolt and Nissan came quite naturally, since he has been a GT-R owner since 2009.

"I was looking on the Internet and I came across the Nissan GT-R, and they (automotive media) were saying it was the best streetcar ever made," said Bolt in 2012.

"Nissan GT-R is a wonderful car and perfect for me. I love everything in it. I enjoy driving it, and I feel completely safe, and that is the key thing for me."
