2018 Singapore Motorshow: Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

SINGAPORE: Mitsubishi unveils its Eclipse Cross is a 163PS 1.5-litre turbocharged coupe of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) at this year's Singapore Motorshow.

Praise worthy equipment includes a panoramic roof, heads-up display and a touchpad controller for easy operation of the smartphone link display audio system.

For power, this Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) equipped SUV that will be available in Singapore in the second quarter of this year has 1,499cc of displacement for its DOHC MIVEC 4B40 petrol engine that produces 163PS at 5,500rpm and 250Nm of torque from 1,800 to 4,500rpm. A front-wheel driven option is also available.

The powerplant is mated to an INVECS III continuously variable transmission that provides eight virtual gears when in Sports mode.

Sprinting from 0 to 100kph takes 9.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 200kph.

While weighing in at 1,490kg (kerb), its fuel economy is rated at 6.7 litres per 100km and the fuel tank is capable of holding 63 litres of petrol.

Fitted with LEDs for the front with daytime running lights and the rear, it rolls on 18-inch wheels with 225/55 series tyres and has the longest wheelbase of 2,670mm for a Japanese SUV.

Other goodies include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof with tilt and slide, nine-step reclining and 200mm sliding adjustment second row seats, 448-litre boot space with the second row seats pushed all the way to the front and a 7.0-inch display with voice recognition, and Apple CarPlay.

For safety, there's seven airbags, forward collision mitigation system, automatic high beam, hill start assist, multi-around monitor and reinforced impact safety evolution body.

The Eclipse Cross is covered by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and a 10-year engine warranty in Singapore.
