WASHINGTON: Audi is giving the 2021 e-tron SUV family a host of updates and a new, compelling price point for the 2021 model year.

The e-tron SUV is now offered at US$65,900 (RM277,000) starting price for the model year 2021, a drop of nearly US$9,000 (RM38,000) from the starting price of the model year 2019 Premium Plus e-tron.

The e-tron lineup also receives a number of technical spec enhancements for improved utility.

Through optimised drive system hardware and software adjustments, the updated e-tron achieves efficiency improvements resulting in an EPA-estimated range of 357km, an increase of 28km. Meanwhile, the e-tron Sportback delivers an EPA-estimated range of 350km.

The technical enhancements and price cut were to make Audi's EVs more competitive to what Tesla has to offer. Volkswagen AG-owned Audi has had trouble selling its electric cars in the volumes expected. It sold less than 17,000 e-trons in the first half of this year, slightly more than 2% of its worldwide total.
