WOLFSBURG: The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift will be coming this year, with a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant.

Volkswagen has released a design sketch of the new Tiguan, with a sharper and more athletic look.

The refreshed Tiguan will get the updated VW logo. It will feature thinner and sportier headlights as well as revised lower air intake.

We can expect VW engineers to introduce MIB3 - the third-generation infotainment system that is fitted in the new Passat and Golf.

By the time the second-generation Tiguan goes on sale, the MIB3 would likely have evolved with improved and/or additional functionality. MIB3 would allow for over-the-air software updates. It would also provide online access to a growing range of online-based functions and services that are made available using the brand’s own Volkswagen We ecosystem.

The interior is expected to be updated with a new steering wheel and use of new materials.

The Tiguan, which debuted in 2007, broke the production barrier of six million units in the spring of 2020.

A total of 910,926 units of the SUV were manufactured in 2019 alone. This makes the Tiguan the best-selling car in the Volkswagen brand and group.

The versatile vehicle is available to buy in 80% of all countries. It is the most successful SUV on the market in Europe. The Tiguan is one of the three most popular sport utility vehicles in the world.

It is available in standard wheelbase and long-wheelbase that stretches the SUV by 110mm to allow for up to seven seats.

Volkswagen produces the top-selling model in four time zones across three continents. thus ensuring almost round-the-clock production of the SUV.
