2025 updated Porsche Taycan: from RM575K, up to 678km WLTP, adaptive air suspension as standard
By CARSIFU | 06 September 2024SINGAPORE: Porsche introduces the extensively updated all-electric Taycan range to the Southeast Asian region, with a suite of upgrades across all areas.
These upgrades mean the new all-electric sports sedan improves vastly in terms of performance and driving dynamics, together with exceptional efficiency, luxury and comfort.
To showcase these exciting qualities, Porsche Asia Pacific repurposed the Pasir Panjang Power Station in Singapore into an electrifying space, with a runway-style reveal arena, experiential zones showcasing product highlights.
In 2024, prices for the new Taycan models start from RM575,000 with deliveries set to commence towards the end of 2024.
Special private viewings for the one-off Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade will be made available at Porsche Studio Singapore, before it goes on a Southeast Asian tour, with stops in Malaysia and Thailand.
For the first time ever, in the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, Porsche has blended two Chromaflair effect paints.
The paintwork itself was done exclusively by hand and took around 80 work hours.
Chromaflair pigments contain extremely thin “flakes” that appear to shift in colour depending on how you look at them.
These flakes consist of an opaque, reflective core layer of aluminium, which is then surrounded by a glass-like layer.
“Urban Bamboo”, a bright green with yellow and gold tones, and “Shifting Carbon”, a dark grey with black and blue tones, were chosen as the colour combination.
In addition to the spectacular Chromaflair exterior paintwork, the one-off car features a specially designed ‘LongMa’ logo in several places, paying homage to Asian culture.
In addition to the 10 leather and 15 seam colours that Porsche offers as standard for the Taycan, “Leather to Sample” is now also available for the Taycan via the Sonderwunsch programme.
This further customisation option celebrates its premiere with the Taycan Turbo S ‘Celestial Jade’.
The interior specialists from the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur have combined the standard colour Slategrey with the “Leather to Sample” option Englishgreen.
For especially individual requests, Porsche goes a step further: with “Leather to Sample Plus”, the colour can be chosen almost entirely freely.
"With the new Porsche Taycan, we are not just leaping forward in terms of performance and charging, we are also setting a new benchmark for all-electric sports sedans. We will create a one-of-a-kind experiences with unique privileges and events, making sure the Porsche ownership journey is unlike any other,” said Hannes Ruoff, CEO Porsche Asia Pacific at the launch.
"With this spectacular launch event, we cap off a year of remarkable milestones for Singapore, and with our first-ever Sonderwunsch one-off, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade. We mark our second World Premiere in Singapore this year, and pay tribute to this vibrant region in close collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur." Mr. Ruoff continued.
The new Taycan is available in two body variants in Singapore – the Taycan sports sedan and the adventure-ready Taycan Cross Turismo.
The experts at Style Porsche have further honed the clean, purist design of the Taycan with new front- and rear-end styling and new headlights and taillights.
The new headlights feature high-resolution HD matrix technology and display the brand’s characteristic four-point graphics at night.
The Porsche logo in the rear light strip also features a new three-dimensional, glass-look design, and for the first time, owners can choose an optional illuminated version featuring welcome/leaving animations.
The new electric motor on the rear axle of the Taycan generates 80 kW more power than the predecessor, but weighs 10.4 kg lighter for even higher performance.
As a result, all new Taycan models accelerate much faster than their predecessors: for example, the Taycan accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds – 0.6 seconds faster than its predecessor.
The top of the range Taycan Turbo S takes just 2.4 seconds to complete the same sprint, 0.4 seconds faster than the previous version.
Selected Taycan models also feature a new ‘Push-to-Pass’ function in the Sport Chrono package, a feature that generates a temporary a boost of up to 70 kW, depending on the model.
The ‘Push-to-Pass’ function can be called upon for 10 seconds at the touch of a button, adding a fun factor to the overall Taycan driving experience while also enabling lightning-quick overtakes on city streets and highways.
Performance Battery Plus variants of the new Taycan feature a larger battery with a gross energy content of 105 kWh, increased from 93 kWh, and the maximum recuperation capacity during deceleration from high speeds has increased from 290 to up to 400 kW.
The standard battery on the Taycan RWD (89 kWh gross battery content) is capable of 566 kilometres (WLTP).
With the larger battery pack, the range of the new Taycan goes up to 678 kilometres, an increase of 35 per cent.
In short – the Taycan can now travel from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and back on a single charge.
The updated Taycan also recharges faster: at DC charging stations, for example, it can be charged at up to 320 kW.
In addition, peak charging performance is possible on a wider operating temperature scale; this means that amongst other variables, faster charging is possible across a longer time and across a wider range of conditions, and the time required to go from a 10 to an 80 per cent charge is just 18 minutes despite its larger battery capacity.
All updated Taycan models come with adaptive air suspension as standard.
The new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for the all-wheel drive versions.
Standard interior equipment is also more extensive than before across the Taycan range: Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), 14-way adjustable seats, Drive Mode switch and Power Steering Plus, Ambient lighting, ParkAssist including Surround View with Active Parking Support, Four-zone Climate Control, a BOSE Surround Sound system and 20-inch wheels are all now standard features.
