6,432 Proton Perdanas recalled over airbag defect

By CARSIFU | 17 January 2019

SUBANG JAYA: Proton announced a recall today on its Honda Accord-based Perdana for an airbag fix. A total of 6,432 units are involved in the recall.

Affected cars are those built from 2012 to the end of August 2018. Proton said it would inform all current-generation Perdana owners whose cars must be brought in for an inspection and fix.

The fix is free and would take an hour. Perdanas built after Aug 31, 2018 are free from the defect.

The Proton move was triggered by Honda's recent alert on the front passenger airbag inflator of the Accord.

The current Perdana is based on the eighth-generation Accord. The Accord selling in Malaysia now is in its ninth generation, with the 10th due to arrive here this year.
