There's a new kid in town for those looking for a family-size five-seater SUV and it’s none other than the Renault Koleos.

The latest offering from the French marque exudes style, comfort and safety features at a competitive price of RM172,800 in Peninsular Malaysia (on-the-road inclusive of GST, without insurance).

The exterior design manages to meld elegance and an athletic stance with its taut bonnet lines as well as several chrome embellishments, including strips designed to visually lengthen the front end and exude an impression of dynamism.

At the rear, the wide, horizontal tail lights amplify the impression of width and draws the eye to the Renault logo on the tailgate.

Another eye-catching feature are the chrome inserts in the lower part of the rear bumper which take the shape of twin exhaust tailpipes.

Inside, the cabin offers plenty of space for rear passengers with generous head room, shoulder room and elbow room.

The Koleos’ 2,705mm wheelbase is among the longest in the class and boot space is just as impressive with 550 litres and, with the rear seats folded, its carrying capacity increases to 1,690 litres.

The interior also boasts attractive, scratch-resistant materials such as satin-finish chrome for the steering wheel, gear lever and air vent inserts; leather upholstery and leather-trimmed armrests.

Travelling comfort is further enhanced by customisable LED cabin lighting, with a palette of hues ranging from green, blue, yellow, red or violet.

In an age where connectivity matters, the Koleos has a range of connected, personalisable multimedia systems such as the R-LINK 2 multimedia system.

The all-new Koleos features a powerful 2.5-litre petrol engine mated to a new X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission for enhanced performance and driving enjoyment while optimising fuel consumption.

This efficient engine is capable of delivering maximum power of 171PS and peak torque of 226Nm.

It is also extremely responsive at low and mid-range engine speeds, with 200Nm torque available from 1,800rpm.

Standard safety equipment includes two adaptive front airbags, two lateral thorax/shoulder airbags for the front occupants, two curtain airbags, anti-whiplash front and rear head rests, anti-submarining front seats, rear ISOFIX anchorage for i-Size child seats and all the seat belts are equipped with pretensioners and load limiters.

When it comes to active safety, the Koleos provides the latest-generation electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, braking assist, electronic brake force distribution and hill start assist as standard equipment.
