KUALA LUMPUR: Allianz Partners and Waze have announced an expansion of their partnership to provide roadside assistance services to over 10 million Waze users across Asia Pacific.

The countries covered are Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia.

Drivers will be able to access an on-demand roadside assistance service provided by Allianz Partners in real-time, by one click on the Roadside Help ("SOS") button in the Waze app, and get support from either a digital platform or call centre.

Wazers will be assisted anywhere, 24/7, in the event of a breakdown, flat tyre or dead battery.

Allianz Partners - a player in the B2B2C insurance and assistance field - and Waze had initially offered the service across 20 European countries in 2018, benefiting 22 million Waze users.

This expansion builds on an existing partnership launched in July 2018 across 20 European countries, giving over 22 million Waze users access to on-demand roadside assistance. The countries where it's available are France, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Turkey, Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Ireland and Germany.

"Together, Allianz Partners and Waze will focus on making the drivers’ experience even safer, more secure, and more convenient, anytime and anywhere," said Allianz Global Assistance CEO Sylvie Ouziel in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“Waze is a community-driven app that does more than help everyone beat traffic — it also leverages the power of crowdsourced data to support drivers in times of need and distress,” said Waze APAC head K.K. Kumar. “Working closely with Allianz Partners enables us to make our Roadside Help offerings even more comprehensive across Asia Pacific."
