KUALA LUMPUR: Ford Malaysia recorded its best-ever monthly sales in January 2015, with a 38% year-on-year jump to 1,544 units.

The record month was fueled by strong demand for the Ranger pickup truck (1,169 units), sporty Fiesta (168 units) and EcoSport compact urban SUV (73 units).

The stylish Kuga SUV also contributed sales of 71 units.

The Kuga is equipped with smart features and technologies including Ford’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, hands-free lift gate that operates with a gentle kicking motion, and Ford SYNC connectivity system.

“We hit the ground running in January, as more and more customers discover the safety, quality, and value for money offered by our full lineup of global Ford vehicles,” said Ford Motor Company (Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets) managing director David Westerman.

“The unmatched safety features and capability of the Ranger continues to define the pickup segment in the market today. As for the Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost, it continues to connect with Malaysians who appreciate the class-leading combination of power, fuel efficiency and safety,” said Westerman.

Westerman added that he was confident that the Ford brand in Malaysia would be further strengthened in 2015.

“There will be more segment-leading global Ford vehicles coming to Malaysia this year, and a growing network of authorised Ford dealerships and commitment to continue building on our overall customer experience,” he said.

January also saw the reopening of an upgraded Ford facility in Batu Pahat, Johor that now offers sales, service and spare parts under one roof.

This is part of Ford’s strategy to continue enhancing its customer and ownership experience, with Sime Darby Auto ConneXion investing RM140mil in new and existing dealerships over a two-year period.
