Audi beefs up A8 luxury flagship

WASHINGTON: Audi’s flagship A8 received a revision that’s seen its luxury levels upped as well as its power – by strapping on two turbo units for its 4.0-litre V8 engine, and slapping on a Sport badge.

The A8 L 4.0T Sport’s engine now dishes out 15hp more at 450hp and costs US$90,500 (roughly RM400,000).

The Sport model also gets revised in the looks department with less chrome accents, a more muscular outlook as well as a revised front fascia with larger air intakes, lowered front bumper, revised rear bumper and redesigned rocker panels.

There are three 20-inch design options that are fitted with all-weather tyres – the standard being a five-double spoke set, and a larger 21-inch five-arm wheel option is also available, which comes with sticky summer tires.

Owners have the option of upping comfort levels by upgrading the standard Executive package to the Luxury one, which offers a 22-way powered ventilated with massage option front seats upholstered in Valcona leather with diamond pattern stitching.

As standard, there’s also an Alcantara headliner, panoramic sunroof and acoustic glazing on the windows.

Safety includes the Audi driver assistance functions consisting of Audi side assist with pre sense rear, adaptive cruise control with start-stop and a head-up display with navigation information.
