KUALA LUMPUR: BHPetrol is hard at work again to raise road safety awareness among primary school children for the tenth consecutive year for its "Cerah Ceria Bersama BHPetrol" programme.

The programme was conducted by BHPetrol employees on Oct 9 at SK Kementah Kuala Lumpur as part of BHPetrol’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

More than 1,000 students participated in various road safety activities that included stopping distance of vehicles, five steps to cross safely, physical limitations, wearing bright clothing and cycling safely.

However, the main focus of this year's programme was about visibility where the child not only needs to see but also be seen - especially by a driver of a large petroleum tanker.

Also, as with every other year as part of the programme, a short road safety talk is given by the local district traffic Police or by a representative from the road safety department.

This year, it was Federal Territory director of Road Safety Department Azharul Izwan Puaadi who addressed the students on the importance of being safe on the roads and following traffic rules.

The event was also attended by Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd operations and Health, Safety, Security and Environment general manager Fardzi Shah Razali, Leftenan Kolonel Azizul bin Abdul Kadir Kem Kementah Commanding Officer.

“We hope the activities organized have increased the students’ understanding to become more cautious at all times.“ said Fardzi.
