The car sports a classical soft-top roof with fully electric and quiet operation. It opens and closes in 15 seconds at the touch of a button and when travelling at up to 50kph. Soft-top comes in black as standard but Anthracite Silver effect is an option.
The 8 Series Convertible has the familiar BMW proportions and elegantly flowing lines, which stand out with the roof down. A compact, taut soft-top generates a distinctive “deck” silhouette. A wide, sporty rear-end design underlines the low-slung stance of the car.
Adaptive LED headlights and LED rear lights as standard. BMW Laserlight with Selective Beam and high beam range increased to 600 metres available as an option.
It seats four seats, and has through-loading function with 50 : 50 split/folding rear seat backrest. There's a fair bit of luggage space at 350 litres in the boot. Automatic boot lid operation and Comfort Access including hands-free opening and closing of the boot lid are standard.
The new model is set for market launch in March 2019, with two variants offered: M850i xDrive Convertible (530hp V8 engine and 840d xDrive Convertible (with a 320hp six-cylinder in-line diesel engine). Both engine variants meet Euro 6d-TEMP exhaust standard. Power transfer is by eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive.
Bespoke options are a given at this level of luxury with M Sport package for the 840d xDrive Convertible, and M Technic Sport Package for the 840d xDrive Convertible. Not enough?
