KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Malaysia, as the premium partner of the CIMB Classic 2018 for the ninth consecutive year, has delivered 45 units of its 530e Sport (G30) that will act as the official vehicle fleet for the upcoming golf tournament.

“Through our partnership this year, we are honoured to be demonstrating our vision of Future Mobility through our fleet of premium and progressively sustainable vehicles, at a prestigious tournament like the CIMB Classic – the only PGA TOUR-sanctioned event in Southeast Asia,” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director Harald Hoelzl.

The hybrid executive sedans with eDrive Technology will be used to shuttle all players, officials and VIPs during the tournament from Oct 11 to 14 at the TPC Kuala Lumpur (formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club).

During the tournament, the company will be showcasing its range vehicles on the tournament grounds that will include the i8, X3 xDrive30i, 530i M Sport, X2 xDrive20i and the 740Le xDrive ('Hole-in-One' prize).

The tournament will feature 78 players, including defending champion Pat Perez, and world number four Justin Thomas - who is seeking his third CIMB Classic title.

Also vying for the US$7mil (RM29mil) prize fund are BMW Championship winner Keegan Bradley, World Golf Hall of Fame members Ernie Els and Davis Love III, England’s world number 19 Paul Casey, and Japan’s five-time PGA Tour winner Hideki Matsuyama.

“BMW Malaysia is strongly committed to supporting the sport of Golf in the region, from our BMW Golf Cup International programme, the largest and most successful amateur golf competition in the world, to the CIMB Classic, for which we have been the Official Automotive Partner for the last eight years,” added Hoelzl.
