BMW F 900 R and XR arrive from RM62,500

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Motorrad Malaysia has launched its F 900 R Roadster and F 900 XR Adventure motorcycles.

The New F 900 R and XR will be available at all dealerships nationwide from Feb 29 onwards and are being priced on the road without insurance at RM62,500 and RM69,500 respectively.

The bikes are accompanied by a three-year warranty that includes a three-year roadside assistance coverage.

With the Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia - based on a four-year 80% loan tenure, monthly repayments for F 900 R and XR starts from RM770.00 and RM850 per month respectively.

Also, owners can enjoy additional benefits with the Premium Engine Oil Inclusive, Service Inclusive and Warranty Extension Programmes by BMW Motorrad Malaysia.

The F 900 R, with its sporty seating position, comes in San Marino Blue metallic and Style Sport in Hockenheim Silver metallic/Racing Red for colour options with the passenger seat cover available only with Style Sport.

The F 900 XR, however, uses a more relaxed seating position to go along with its Style Exclusive application.

This means it comes in Galvanic Gold metallic colour with its central tank cover and radiator cover splashed with Granite Grey Metallic Matt.

The XR also features handguards from the Original BMW Motorrad Accessories as well as an adjustable windshield, centre stand and suitcase holder.

Both the New BMW F 900 R and XR use a steel bridge frame that integrates the engine as a load-bearing element and a fuel tank that is now back in its classic position that's in front of the rider.

Front-wheel control is taken care of by an upside-down telescopic fork, while the rear wheel is guided by a double-sided swinging arm with central suspension strut.

The F 900 R has a front/rear suspension travel of 135mm/142mm for more dynamism while the more adventurous XR has a higher 170mm/172mm of travel that will attest strongly towards comfort levels.

Both bikes make use a plastic-welded fuel tank only its 13 litres for the R and 15.5 litres for the XR.

The bolt-on steel rear frame has also been newly developed for these bikes to create a visually short and slim rear.

As standard, these bikes will be equipped with LEDs for their headlights - a single headlight for the R and double headlights for the XR, in addition to Adaptive Cornering Light to up safety levels.

For power, the bike uses an 895cc (+42cc) with an enlarged bore-size of its two-cylinder in-line engine that has a compression ratio of 13.1:1 and a crankshaft with 90-degree offset crankpins and an ignition distance of 270/450 degrees.

Now, output has been rated at 105hp at 8,750rpm and 92Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.

Because of two opposed counterweight shafts in front of and behind the crankshaft - a higher level of running smoothness has been attained.

In addition to the standard anti-hopping clutch, the new 900 R and XR can be equipped with engine drag torque control (MSR) for the first time.

The Shift Assistant Pro is also offered as an optional extra for both bikes, enabling the six-speed transmission to be shifted up and down quickly without clutch actuation.

Both motorcycles are equipped with two standard riding modes of Rain and Road to and further garnished with Automatic Stability Control (can be disengaged).



Riding Modes Pro is also available as an added option which adds on Dynamic and Dynamic Pro ride modes as well as Dynamic Traction Control, banking-capable ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake
Control and the new engine drag torque control.

For connectivity, both bikes feature Connectivity as standard and is paired to a 6.5-inch multifunctional full-colour TFT instrument cluster.

The system allows the rider the ability to conveniently talk on the phone, listen to music or navigate while riding.

Via the standard BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller on the left handlebar, riders can access the bike's information and connectivity functions with ease.
