BMW M5 powers in at RM943K

SEPANG: BMW Group Malaysia unveiled the venerable M5 (F90) during this year's BMW M Track Experience at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) ahead of its June 1 availability all authorised dealerships nationwide.


The new premium performance sedan is priced on-the-road without insurance (no GST) at RM942,760, and comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service programme.

The new F90 model that replaces the outgoing M5 (F10) weighs in at about 90kg-less at 1,855kg (kerb) and has a 2,982mm (-18mm) wheelbase while measuring 4,965mm-long (+55mm), 1,903mm-wide (+12mm) and 1,473mm-tall (+22mm).

Under the hood lies a 4.4-litre (4,395cc) S63B44T4 twin-turbo V8 engine that outputs 600hp (+40hp) from 5,600 to 6,700rpm as well as 750Nm (+70Nm) from 1,800 to 5,600rpm.

The older F10 model uses a 4.4-litre S63B44T0 twin-turbo V8 - producing 560hp from 6,000 to 7,000rpm and 680Nm of torque from 1,500 to 5,750rpm, that's mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

As an optional extra, BMW Group Malaysia offers the M Carbon Ceramic Brakes package (RM95,000) in gold-coloured callipers that will shave 23kg off its kerb weight and is touted to provide better deceleration and considerably less brake fade.

For handling, the G90 uses an aluminium five-link axle adaptive M suspension system with variable damper control.

Infotainment comes from a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon surround sound system with a 600-watt digital amplifier connected to a 10.25-inch colour touchscreen with gesture controls, USB-port, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, reverse camera and a 20Gb hard-drive for audio-files storage.

This also includes BMW ConnectedDrive services which comprises of Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, Concierge Services and Remote Services.

Other additional options include a Performance Pack (RM30,000 - sport exhaust system, M Carbon engine cover and M seat belts), Advance Safety Pack (RM15,000 - driving assistant plus and M carbon ceramic brakes) and an Entertainment Pack (RM55,000 - Bowers and Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system and rear seat entertainment system).
