KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Malaysia today anounced its "Joy.Electrified by i" sales campaign to put more electrified cars on the road.

The offers listed in the campaign end on March 31.

It kicks off with offers on the 530e plug-in hybrid. It is being promoted with a financing rate of 0.33% under the BMW Straight Line Financing Solution and comes with rebates from RM20,000.

In addition, BMW Malaysia is throwing in a free 1-year BMW Comprehensive Motor Insurance, as well as free a 1-year BMW Ultimate Protection Programme. All new cars will also receive a 6-year or 100,000 km hybrid battery warranty.

Should a BMW be declared total loss or stolen within the first 12 months of ownership, it will be replaced with a new unit of the same model. The motor insurance programme would also settle the total loss or theft claims within one month. It also touts such benefits as instant claim processing of windscreen damage and waiver of betterment for vehicles up to 10 years.

BMW Ultimate Protection Programme is the first-of-its-kind insurance plan underwritten by Allianz General Insurance Company. It offers both the driver and his BMW car a special relief, scratch and dent, flood coverage, among others.

The campaign period also introduces the BMW ChargeNow promo where new owners of selected iPerformance vehicles will receive the BMW i AC fast charging cable and BMW ChargeNow card, which grants access to partner charging stations like ChargEV by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation.

With the BMW ChargeNow service, customers can enjoy 24/7 support and access to all charging locations in ChargEV’s growing network which now offers more than 270 charging facilities nationwide. Additionally, new owners of the 740Le will enjoy a complimentary BMW i Wallbox Plus and BMW i AC fast charging cable with the BMW i Wallbox promo.

Don't worry that replacing a plug-in hybrid’s battery may burn a hole in your pocket.

The batteries for BMW cars are designed in a modular system which is unique in the industry. With modular battery packs like the one in the 530e M Sport, you can replace one module for just RM5,000 instead of replacing an entire pack. The battery pack comes with six modules.

On the average battery lifespan, drivers of electrified cars should note that with a favourable driving profile, regular charging from the socket and by avoiding long storage periods without charging, the battery health and capacity can go well beyond the warranty period of six-years/100,000km.
