The retail price for the i3s is RM278,800 (on the road, without insurance, and with BMW Group Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty, Free Scheduled Service Programme and BMW Tyre Warranty Programme).
The BMW i3s is Malaysia’s first pure electric vehicle in the premium segment.
It uses a synchronous electric motor with a Single-Speed Automatic Transmission and delivers a maximum output of 184hp and peak torque of 270Nm.
This enables it to sprint to 100kph in just 6.9 seconds and onwards to 160kph.
A lithium-ion high-voltage battery is located low inside the vehicle's floor to gift the i3s a maximum travel range of 260km.
The combined electric power consumption on the NEDC cycle is at 14.3kWh for every 100km.
It sports a bold front bumper with a black U-shaped surround and a high-gloss black accent for its closed kidney grille.
Lateral trim strips on the front apron in the BMW i Blue further emphasises its width.
It has a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) passenger cell, upholstery in Dark Truffle Leather Vernasca, full LED headlights, a sports suspension with custom-made springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, and 20-inch BMW i light alloy wheels.
Selecting SPORT mode using the Driving Experience Control switch, will result in a more direct accelerator response and tighter steering characteristics.
The i3s also features Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Control and the Antilock Braking System with Brake Assist for a safer drive.
Driver assistance systems include a rear-view camera, Park Distance Control for both front and rear, active cruise control with Stop & Go function, Collision and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function and Traffic Jam Assistant.
There are also BMW Navigation System Professional with a 10.25-inch control display, as well as a 5.7-inch TFT instrument display.
The many sustainable materials used to furnish the i3s include recycled plastics, natural fibres and open-pored, unbleached eucalyptus wood.
To reduce its carbon footprint, the i3s uses recycled and renewable resources on over 80% of all visible surfaces within the vehicle.
For fast charging, the 11kW BMW i Wallbox can charge the car in under three hours for a range of 180km.
