BMW offers to help authorities probe cause of fire

PETALING JAYA: BMW Group Malaysia woke up this morning to news of a BMW catching fire and killing its driver, and immediately offered to help the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department as well as other authorities investigate the incident.

"This is a very unfortunate incident and we are really saddened with what has happened," said BMW Group Malaysia in a statement.

"We sympathise with the victim and the family members affected by the incident. We understand that at the moment, the cause of the fire has not been ascertained."

According to The Star report today, the man was believed to have been drunk, and had pulled up at the Sprint Highway toll plaza in Damansara to sleep with the engine running when the car caught fire, killing the driver. No one else was in the car.

The vehicle involved in the tragedy was a older-generation BMW car.
