The S 1000 XR will be available at all authorised BMW Motorrad dealerships nationwide from July 1 onwards and has been priced on-the-road price without insurance at RM121,500.

The S 1000 XR is covered by a three-year warranty that's accompanied by a three-year roadside assistance programme and can be had from RM1,969 per month based on a Financing Plan of 80% loan over a five-year tenure from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia.

The S 1000 XR is now 10kg lightered compared to its predecessor while featuring a new layout for the main frame, fuel tank flanks and body parts in the saddle area for better support and an improved knee grip.
The company says that the redefined ergonomic triangle between the handlebar, seat surface and footrests have all contributed to an overall increase in ergonomics.
In terms of standard offerings, the S 1000 XR is available in two colours of Ice Grey and Racing Red, while having been fitted with an integrated pannier holder, toll card compartment as well as an under-seat storage compartment.
The new variant also comes with optional features that have now been made standard and include the main centre stand, hand protection guard and heated grips.
Also fitted are symmetrical full-LED headlights with adaptive cornering lights and Headlight Pro DRL (Daytime Riding Light) as standard.
For power, the S 1000 XR uses a 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine producing 165hp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 9,250rpm - all managed by a six-speed manual transmission with an anti-hopping clutch that allows it to reach a top speed of 200kph.
The S 1000 XR now features an electrically controlled engine drag torque control (MSR) to prevent the rear wheel from slipping as a result of an abrupt throttling or downshifting.
Four riding modes are provided as standard – Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro - the latter can be fully configured to offer a wide range of setting options.
Furthermore, the S 1000 XR now uses the latest generation of Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and DTC Wheelie function which can be configured separately.
To further enhance safety, there's also ABS Pro, Hill Start Control Pro, cruise control and completely new and lighter suspension with directly articulated suspension strut
featuring Flex Frame.
The frame and swinging arm of the new variant is now 2.1 kg lighter while having a more pronounced load-bearing engine while the new double-sided swinging arm has also been lightened by 1.6kg.
For greater handling prowess, the company's Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) has been included in the mix with two damping modes of Road and Dynamic, along with the automatic load compensation.
The new variant also features the dynamic brake assistant DBC (Dynamic Brake Control) and Keyless Ride function.
Riders will now get to peer at the completely redeveloped 6.5-inch TFT instrument panel dubbed Pure Ride screen which provides information such as vehicle status overview, while the Core screen displays banking position, braking and traction control.
A practical arrow navigation system with an app is also included as standard.
The TFT display can be conveniently operated from the handlebars using the Motorcycle Multi-Controller.
Optional accessories for the S 100 XR includes panniers, top cases and soft bags, carbon fibre crash bars, M machined parts and low, tall or tinted windshields.
