MUNICH: BMW's seventh-generation G30 5 Series executive sedan is being refreshed and it's set for an official debut in South Korea.

The unveiling of "das neu 5er" is said to be taking place alongside the 6 Series Gran Turismo as well.

Details about the G30's life cycle impulse (BMW-speak for facelift) wasn't revealed but its silhouette was shown ahead of its official unveiling.

With the rumour-mill slowly spinning along, we can expect the G30 to get a power boost.

For the US, the entry-level 530i with its 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four powerplant might get its 248hp and 350Nm bumped up to 255hp and 400Nm.

Moving up the hierarchy, the 540i's 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six might make way for the latest version of itself that's currently found in the M340i with 382hp and 500Nm of torque.

As for the M550i, it's twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine with 523hp and 750Nm of torque should be allowed to rumble on as with the M5 that uses the same engine, only it produces 591hp and 790Nm of torque while the M5 Competition gets a more potent 617hp tune.
