Brabham offers road legal version of BT62 supercar

LONDON: Brabham's ballistic BT62 supercar can be made street legal with a nifty kit that raises the ride height and adds creature comforts like air-conditioning, the company has announced.

The so-called Road Compliance kit is being offered in Europe and Australia and adds £150,000 (RM790,000) to the sticker price of £1 million (RM5.3mil).

The Australian high-performance maker built the BT62 to be an uncompromising track car. It is now responding to the wish of some customers for occasional road use.

It seems some wealthy owners want to drive their BT62 to and from the circuit on race days.

Brabham has not tamed the BT62 for use on public streets and the street-legal version boasts the same bonkers performance from the 700-hp V8 engine.

No official figures have been released but experts say the car can top 320kph, with acceleration from zero to 100kph in around three seconds.

At this rarified end of the supercar market, Brabham is keen to pamper customers with options. Each car is built to an exclusive specification.

The road kit can be fitted by Brabham Automotive ahead of registration or after the owner has tried out the BT62 on a race-track.

The kit also includes a handy increase to the steering lock range, door locks and anti-theft immobilisers, along with upgraded upholstery in the interior.
