SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd is recalling a number of Toyota Hilux and Fortuner units over the issue of faulty brake boosters.

Based on the information received from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), there are 12,997 units of vehicles involved in this campaign. They comprised Hilux (11,571 units) and Fortuner (1,426 units) produced from July 2018 to January 2019.

Other models are not affected by this campaign.

The condition involves the resin pistons in the brake booster of the subjected vehicles where the vehicles could experience compromised braking performance.

UMW Toyota Motor said it would send notification letters to affected customers to have their vehicles rectified at no charge.

For further information, owners of affected cars may contact any authorised Toyota Service Centre or call the Toyota Freephone at 1800-8-TOYOTA (869682).
