INGOLSTADT: Audi's interim CEO Bram Schot (pic) has been appointed chairman of the management board with effect from Jan 1, 2019.

Schot has headed the company since June 2018 as interim CEO. He will continue temporarily to be in charge of sales and marketing from Jan 1. His responsibilities also include other brands in the Audi stable namely Ducati, Lamborghini and Italdesign Giugiaro.

Schot, 57, had told Manager Magazin in October that he was angling to secure the top job for the long term.

He was promoted to interim CEO in June after incumbent Rupert Stadler was arrested for his alleged role in bringing diesel cars with devices to cheat emission tests to European markets.

The Dutchman has been Audi AG board of management member for sales and marketing since September 2017. On June 19, 2018, he was additionally appointed as the interim board of management chairman.

“As interim CEO, Bram Schot has already done a convincing job in recent months," said the Audi supervisory board chairman and VW Group CEO, Dr Herbert Diess.

"He is pushing forward with the cultural change in his team and is effectively tackling the current challenges. With the benefit of a strong mandate, he will further accelerate the transformation of the company and lead the Four Rings to new successes.”
