ZURICH: Cadillac’s first-ever compact SUV has made it to the starting line. Measuring 4.60 metres in length, the Cadillac XT4 will enter the market to take on competitors such as the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA.

The model is already on the market in North America, but won’t be making its way to Europe until early 2020, Cadillac Europe’s Vice President Felix Weller announced.

Weller estimates that starting prices will be just under US$40,000 (RM166,000) in Europe, slightly higher than the US$35,790 (RM148,000) price tag in the United States.

Coming standard with nine-speed automatic transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive, the XT4 will initially offer a choice between a 2.0-litre 240-hp turbo petrol engine, or a 200-hp diesel with the same displacement.

While performance and fuel consumption data have not yet been released for the European versions, the XT4 – Cadillac’s smallest and by far cheapest model to date – will still come with plenty of standard features such as LED headlamps, climate control, heads-up display and assistance systems like adaptive cruise control.

 The 2019 XT4 features an all-new 2.0L Turbo engine, rated at an SAE-certified 237hp and 350Nm.
