CAM launched Co-Star minibus at KLIMS’18

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian light commercial vehicle marque CAM launched its new Co-Star minibus which can transport 20 people, at the Kuala Lumpur International Motorshow (KLIMS’18), which is being held till December 2 at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

It was launched by Minister of Transport Anthony Loke Siew Fook, together with R&A Commercial Vehicles Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Wazir Muaz and and director Gwee Bok Wee and exec director Lau Kiat Hoon.

The CAM Co-Star is priced at RM172,400 (Peninsular Malaysia) and warranty is 3 years or 100,000km (whichever comes first).

For a limited time, the Co-Star comes with a free 360-degree camera system (valued at RM3,500) that offers a birds' eye view of the vehicle's surrounding area.

The Co-Star is suitable to be used as executive transporter, shuttle bus, luxury coach, and school bus.

It is 6 metres in length, and its interior size is 1.8m (height) and 1.9m (width).

A city transporter that can be configured with a 16+1 or 19+1 seat layout, the Co-Star is billed as having high ceiling, ample headroom, ample natural light, and a wide viewing angle for the driver and passengers.

The Co-Star has a 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 107hp at 3,400rpm and 260Nm at 2,000rpm.

It uses a Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox and Bosch fuel supply system.

At the motor show, CAM also launced a new version of its best-selling Placer-X 3.0L van equipped with a 3.0-litre engine, 6 speed, twin pot brake calliper & heavy duty axle packaged to offer a product with performance, efficiency and enhanced safety.

The Placer-X 18-seater van is known as the longest van in Malaysia, and recently took the Preferred Vehicle by Tourism Industry at Malaysian Tourism Council Gold Award.

The CAM Placer-X is available with 2.5-litre CDTi and 3.0-litre CDTi engines.

The CAM light commercial vehicle range includes 10-18 seater vans, trucks, pick-ups, caravans and now a minibus.

Founded in 2009, CAM vehicles are assembled locally by R&A Commercial Vehicles Sdn Bhd (RACV), a manufacturing and assembly plant under Sendok Group.

CAM vehicles are also distributed by R&A Marketing Sdn Bhd, a member of Sendok Group.

CAM has over 100 sales and service dealers and branches nationwide, and provides a 24/7 service hotline as well as free nationwide towing service to their customers within the vehicles' warranty period.
