PETALING JAYA: Car buyers are spoilt for choice with the many special year-end deals “on the road”.
Marketing executive Sumathi Narayanasamy, 40, said she was offered a RM9,000 rebate for the 2017 Honda Jazz Hybrid.
“I wanted to trade in my five-year-old Ford Fiesta urgently because its value will drop if I wait till next year,” she said.
Iskandar Johari, 29, has been visiting car showrooms with his wife to make a personal survey of what’s on offer.
“We started checking early in the year but we knew that December will be the best time to buy with the higher rebate and car firms wanting to clear their 2017 stock,’’ he added.

Iskandar, who works at a consulting firm, said the other option was to wait for next year’s Chinese New Year deals.
Project manager Ramesh Subaschandram, 41, said he has decided to trade in his car for a new set of wheels.
Others, like Raden Khatijah Raden Jamian, 53, are still holding out hope for bigger discounts next year. She said she planned to buy a Perodua Myvi for her son in January and was expecting a RM3,000 rebate.
Software engineer Edward Low, 31, said he was waiting to buy a car at the start of 2018, as he could not get a discount for the particular car he was eyeing.
“Since the value of a car is determined by the year of make, it is not worth it if I buy the car towards the year end,’’ he added.
