Cheaper RON95 petrol in Jan 2019

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians can start 2019 on a bright note as RON95 petrol price is expected to drop because of falling crude oil prices.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the government at present sets fuel prices on a monthly basis and this will only be reflected the following month.

However, it will switch back to a weekly float for the RON95 petrol price from Jan 1 onwards. Lim said this will allow consumers to benefit faster from reductions in the fuel prices.

Should crude oil prices go up, the Government would subsidise fuel by capping RON95 petrol price at RM2.20 per litre and diesel at RM2.18 per litre, said Lim.
