BEIJING: Following the launch of the new BMW 5 Series (G30) in several international markets earlier in July, a special long-wheelbase version of its successful business sedan - dubbed 535Le, has just been launched in China.

In addition to the added wheelbase that lengthens the car from 2,975mm to 3,105mm (+130mm), the new 5er also includes other equipment options such as a panoramic sky lounge glass roof and the Fond-Entertainment Professional with two tilt-adjustable touch screens among others.

The company touts its new 5er as the most successful business sedan in China. It is powered by a 292bhp plug-in hybrid drive system.

This model variant is intended only for the Chinese market and will be made available with the M Sport package.

Connectivity comes in the way of the BMW Operating System 7 complemented with BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, which gets new graphic displays and enhanced voice control.

Thanks to the longer wheelbase, rear passengers benefit the most from the added legroom. Eleven ambient light designs are available along with comfort-oriented rear seats with ergonomic upholstery and headrests.
