KUALA LUMPUR: The lucky hole-in-one winner at this year's CIMB Classic will take home the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car.

In announcing this today, BMW Group Malaysia also said that the 5 Series and X5 vehicles will be used as official cars at the golf tournament to be held from Oct 29 to Nov 1 at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club in Bukit Kiara here.

The i8 is largely made up of carbon fibre reinforced plastic and is able to accelerate from 0-100 kph in 4.4 seconds while only consuming 2.5 litres per 100km of fuel and emits 59 grams per km of CO2. It uses a 1.5 litre, three-cylinder combustion engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and electric motors for propulsion.

The fleet of forty 5 Series and 20 X5 will be used as shuttle vehicles for players, officials, as well as VIPs throughout the tournament. This is the sixth year BMW has been supplying cars to CIMB Classic.

BMW Group Malaysia will also used CIMB Classic to showcase the 6 Series Gran Coupe, X6, X1 sDrive 20i and the i8.
