PARIS: Citroen offshoot DS is adding two new electrified models to its range with the E-Tense badge: A battery-powered DS3 Crossback SUV and a larger DS7 Crossback SUV as a plug-in hybrid.

The DS3 gets 136hp electric motor fed by a 50kWh battery, allowing for an electronically limited top speed of 150kph and a standard range of 320km.

With 100kW charging you can refill the battery up to 80 per cent in as little as 30 minutes under the right conditions.

The DS7 Crossback, meanwhile, is being offered as an E-Tense with a 200hp petrol engine and two electric motors in the front and rear, all combining to an output of 300hp. The DS7 can reach speeds of up to 135 km/h and has an electric-only range of up to 58km.

When all engines work in harmony, the Crossback can turn on all-wheel drive, reach 100kph from a standstill in 5.9 seconds and hit a top speed of up to 240kph, according to DS figures. Standard consumption is put at 1.3 litres (30 g/km CO2).

The electric DS3 costs at least €38,390 (RM183,000) in its home market, while the plug-in DS7 Crossback starts at €50,290 (RM239,000).
