Continental Tyre opens inaugural training centre in Alor Star

ALOR STAR: Continental Tyre Alor Setar has officially opened its first training centre that spans 1,507 square feet and will provide its 730 employees with 655 training sessions per year from its shop floor.

The new centre will also be used for onboarding and basic training sessions, which extend a comprehensive overview for new employees.

The company's aim is to help build a workforce that produces high-quality products by further enhancing employees’ knowledge and skills, to inspire and cultivate the right attitude towards safety, quality and efficiency while providing state-of-the-art computerized and manual training in a vocational skill and a tailor-made enrichment education.

The training process is key to adapting its employees with operational and manufacturing evolution by equipping them with the necessary competencies to close the gaps in organizational performance.

“With this investment, we aim to ensure the long-term success of our tyre plant in Alor Setar. Only with knowledge and know-how in advanced manufacturing technologies, we will be able to keep our competitive position in our global manufacturing network and deliver best quality and performance tyres ‘Made in Alor Setar'," said Continental general manager Carlos Bernabe.

The company in Alor Star produces passenger and light truck tyres as well as two-wheel tyres for Continental in Malaysia and the APAC market.

It has also been producing tyres in the country since 1979 while employing more than 1,000 personnel and is now eager to empower its employees.
