Ducati updates the Monster 821

BOLOGNA (Italy): Providing a sneak peek at 2018, Ducati has presented the first of five new models for the coming season, starting with an updated Monster 821.

The naked motorcycle from Borgo Panigale is presented in Ducati Yellow and joins the Res and Black colour options as it arrives to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original model first seen at the Cologne Show in Oct 1992.

The 821 is touted to have inherited all the character and charm of the first Monster 900.

The 821 has adopted the design and functional features introduced in the Monster 1200 with a sleek, streamlined design and a completely redesigned tank and tail that's inspired by the 1992 version.

A new racing silencer, headlight and a colour TFT display have made its way on the bike as standard, while the Ducati Quick Shift up/down and the Ducati Multimedia Systems are available as an optional extra.

The 821cc engine provides 109hp at 9,250rpm and 86Nm of torque at 7,750rpm.

It also features the Ducati Safety Pack, which comprises of a Bosch anti-lock braking system integrated with the Ducati Traction Control.

There's also three riding modes of Sport, Touring and Urban.

Stopping power comes from the Brembo brakes with dual 320mm discs and M4-32 monobloc radial callipers at the front.

The suspension system includes 43mm forks at the front and an adjustable shock absorber at the rear.

The new Monster 821 is just the first of the Ducati 2018 new range.

The Ducati World Premiere, to be streamed live on Nov 5 at 9pm, will unveil four more new models designed by the Italian manufacturers, which will later be presented to the general public at EICMA - from Nov 9 to 12 at the Rho fair.
