PETALING JAYA: Grab drivers are crying foul over the company's alleged failure to refund the additional 5% commission and service fee charges on Monday, as promised.

Malaysia E-Hailing Drivers Association (MeHDA) president Daryl Chong said the company had issued a statement on July 28 that they would refund the drivers on Monday.

"Since then, it has been more than 48 hours, and drivers have yet to receive the 5% refund promised by Grab, " he said in a statement today.

Chong called on the Transport Ministry to look into the matter and take immediate action.

Earlier, The Transport Ministry had issued a directive not to charge commission or service fees exceeding 20%, in addition to the fare from July 12.

Chong noted that Transport Minister Anthony Loke had warned e-hailing operators not to flout the 20% cap on commission ruling.

"Grab, however, decided to continue charging its 'Manual-Accept' drivers 25% commission and service fee from July 12 to July 28.

"The company made a statement via their driver app on July 28 that the extra 5% will be refunded to the drivers on Monday.

"The announcement was also highlighted in The Star on July 29, " he noted.
