PETALING JAYA: If you have picked up a copy of The Star paper this morning, you would have realised that Euro5 fuel is now on sale in the Klang Valley.

But only from Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd (BHPetrol), which started selling Euro5 diesel at its Seri Kembangan station along the Sungai Besi highway from today. It expects eight more of its stations in the valley to begin sale of the cleaner fuel by Aug 13.

The  Infiniti Euro5 diesel is retailed at RM2.05 per litre, 10 sen more than the Euro2M diesel. Both diesel grades would be sold alongside each other.

The main difference between Euro5 diesel and Euro 2M is that the Euro5 contains only 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulphur compared to 500ppm for Euro2M. It is therefore a much cleaner fuel which produces lower emissions for a cleaner environment.

With an ultra-low amount of sulphur, the Euro5 diesel is expected to allow a vehicle’s advanced engine and emission control systems to perform optimally. The result is reduced emissions, extended engine life and improved vehicle performance.

BHPetrol began selling Euro5 diesel in Johor Baru at RM2.30 last November, making it the first petroleum company to offer the product in Malaysia. It now has 11 stations offering the higher grade diesel in the Johor state capital. It also leads the pack as the first to roll it out in the Klang Valley.

BHPetrol said the introduction of Euro5 diesel in Johor "was an initiative we took to ensure that diesel-powered vehicles entering Singapore could comply with the country’s tighter emission regulations that came into effect mid-2014."

"We are aware of the growing number of Malaysian motorists who favour cleaner, higher-grade fuel for their advanced diesel engines. As such, we continue to use our expertise and resources to make Infiniti Euro5 diesel available at more and more of our service stations."

On the petrol side, BHPetrol has announced last month that its Infiniti RON97 Euro4M petrol would be officially launched on Sept 1 and would be available at all BHPetrol stations.

It is fully imported with double dosage of German additives at 800ppm, catering to current high performance engine vehicles, and has only 50ppm of sulphur content, translating to cleaner engines, better performance and longer engine life. It also means a less polluted environment.
