SEPANG: The Formula 4 South East Asia (F4 SEA) Championship - fueled by Petron, completed an incredible weekend where junior drivers from all over world competed in the fifth and ultimate event of the 2017-18 season at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

After each intense six-race weekend during the season, the best performing driver with the lowest score was crowned the 'Event Champion'.

Newcomer Alessandro Ghiretti in car No.28 was crowned the Event Champion with 21 points, followed by reigning 2016 champion Presley Martono who came in second with 22 points while third and fourth positions went to Daniel Cao and Kane Shepherd - the driver and rookie favourites coming into the weekend with 27 and 28 points respectively.

Malaysia’s Muizz Musyaffa managed to win the final race of the event to make it his first victory in F4 SEA, placing him fifth overall in the championship.

With just one less point, Isyraf Danish finished just behind Muizz in the final race, making it a Malaysian one-two on the podium.

In car number one, Hibiki Taira of Okinawa finished in seventh with 37 points ahead of another Malaysian Nazim Azman in eighth.

In the red number 42 car was Luke Thompson who took ninth with 47 points doing Ireland proud ahead of newcomer Armand Johany who flew the Jalur Gemilang colours for his first race in the number 31 car.

Two more Malaysians, Armand’s brother Arsh was eleventh in car number 38, tying with Timothy Yeo, but was broken by Arsh who claimed the faster lap in the last race.

The F4 SEA 2018 season is now on the horizon,  but the race series and race service providers - MERITUS.GP, will be recognising and rewarding the drivers who excelled this season at the upcoming MERITUS Awards Gala that's been slated for June.
