Go Auto to deliver electric buses to Melaka

SHAH ALAM: Go Auto is due to deliver its first batch of electric buses to the Melaka state government by end-2017.

"Go Auto has been given the trust to supply electric buses worth RM30 million by the Melaka state government," said the company's executive director Datuk SM Azli SM Nasimuddin Kamal.

SM Azli also said Go Auto is on the right track to transform Malaysia into a regional manufacturing hub for electric vehicles (EV) and its components once electric buses are introduced.

"The EV prototypes are near completion. Go Auto is also in talks for new projects, to supply electric buses," he said.

"We are collaborating with companies like Microvast, a battery manufacturer for EV vehicles from the United States, and Higer bus manufacturer," said SM Azli.

Set up 2013, Go Auto was appointed by the Great Wall Motor (GWM) as the manufacturer and only exclusive distributor for Haval SUV and GWM in Malaysia and Asean market.

The company made history in the local automotive sector by being the first company awarded with car manufacturing license for energy efficient vehicles (EEVs) by the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) under the National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2014.

Go Auto has entered markets in Cambodia and Brunei, and also Batam, Indonesia with the Haval H1, H2 and H8 vehicle models.
