BERLIN: Here's a gloomy report from Automotive News Europe which claims Volkswagen has decided to discontinue production of the Passat sedan as early as 2023 and the Arteon will also follow suit.
According to company sources familiar with Volkswagen's agenda said the production shift will now focus more on SUVs and EV vehicles.
If this report holds up then the Passat is now discontinued in both Europe and US.
The report also says that the Arteon, in both its fastback and shooting brake variant, is apparently on the way out as there are indications that there are no plans for the car's next iteration.
If this report is confirmed, then it looks like the traditional sedan lost out to the SUV as consumer habits changed over time.
