Harley-Davidson wheels out the Iron 1200

PETALING JAYA: Harley-Davidson of Petaling Jaya (HDPJ) has introduced the Iron 1200 model which combines old-school styling trends from the custom-bike scene with the Sportster platform and the punchy performance of the Evolution 1200 V-Twin engine.

It poses with new fuel tank graphics inspired by the Iron 1200 and the Forty-Eight Special for a 1970s look while being powered by a 1,202cc Evolution 1200 V-Twin engine.

The engine boasts of 36% more torque at 99Nm compared to the 883 Evolution engine that powers the Iron 883 - the original urban brawler in the Sportster family.

It comes fitted with a 1.0-inch satin-black Mini Ape handlebar (8.75-inch rise, 32-inch spread and 6.5-inch pullback), gloss-black speed screen and a fast-back Café Solo seat that flows onto the rear fender.

The classic 12.5-litre Sportster fuel tank has three colour options of Vivid Black, Twisted Cherry and Billiard White to go with the multi-coloured striped graphics and the Vivid Black speed screen.

The powertrain has been styled with a popular black upper and lower rocker boxes, black exhaust and muffler shields, and black timer, primary and derby covers while the chrome pushrod tubes and tappets highlight the V-Twin engine shape.

The Iron 1200 is finished with all-black 19-inch (front) and 16-inch (rear) nine-spoke wheels coupled with a solid black belt guard and rear sprocket.

Furthermore, it comes equipped with Harley-Davidson's Smart Security System and anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard.

The Evolution 1200, on the other hand, features a black top with bright chrome below for the primary, inspection and derby covers as well as the muffler, exhaust shields, lower rocker boxes, pushrod tubes and tappet covers to act as a contrast against the black cylinders.

The 16-inch Black Split nine-spoke cast aluminium wheels wear high-performance Michelin Scorcher 31 tyres.

“With its introduction, we welcome everyone to come over and see it for themselves for a limited time as this particular unit already has its owner," said Ahmad Rano, the Head of Sales for H-D PJ.

Additionally, HDPJ is also hosting their first Anniversary Carnival that is open to the public this weekend with rebates of up to RM28,000 on selected Touring models, interest rate as low as 3.6%, and covered by a two-year factory warranty as well as up to 30% discount on general merchandise and selected parts and accessories.
