MALACCA: Honda Malaysia and the Honda Malaysia Suppliers Club have recently donated nearly RM40,000 worth of essential goods to six charity homes in Malacca to help alleviate the burden brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

The six charity homes include old folks' homes, welfare centres and orphanages located near Honda's plant in Pegoh. At the same time, this initiative also provided an opportunity for the company and its suppliers to strengthen their relationship.

Over 300 people have benefited from the aid distributed on July 26 and July 28.

The charity homes were Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Dan Warga Emas Alor Gajah, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Warga Emas Dan Anak Yatim Victory, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Harapan, Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Murni Insan Istimewa, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna and Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Villa Harapan.

The items the homes had received included rice, flour, eggs, cooking oil, as well as hygiene products comprising disposable diapers, detergent and shower gel.

"We hope the contributions from Honda Malaysia together with the aid from public donations and Social Welfare Department can provide some relief," said Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Madoka Chujo.

"We are hopeful that the ongoing vaccination programme will help to curb the spread of Covid-19 and bring about a safer environment for all of us in Malaysia."
