LONDON: Honda is set to release a redesigned version of its beloved Monkey motorcycle in June.

The mini motorbike originally debuted in a Japanese amusement park in 1961, but later found its way onto the road in countries around the world. After a long break, Honda will soon be offering the Monkey back in global markets. Honda has not yet announced prices.

Small wheels and a relatively low seat height, trademarks of the original Monkey's design, have been preserved in the new edition. Classic details such as the single seat, rounded rear-view mirrors and chrome details complete its classic look.

The Monkey's air-cooled 125-cc single-cylinder engine has 9.4hp. The bike also has 12-inch cast aluminium wheels, weighs 107 kilograms when fully fuelled and features an anti-lock braking system and LED headlights.
