Honda BR-V previewed in Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: The Honda BR-V was previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2016 today.

The 7-seat SUV, which made its world debut at the 2015 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show last August, is powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC engine, which produces 118hp, making it the highest engine output in its segment.

Although labelled a "prototype" in Malaysia, the car is actually already in production and selling in markets such as Indonesia, Thailand and India. It will start retailing in the Philippines next month.

Honda BRV - 06
The BR-V, classified as an entry-level SUV, appears in Honda’s signature solid wing face design and a sleek roof rail that gives the 7-Seater Crossover a strong and stylish appearance. The exterior is enhanced with Daytime Running Lights and 16” dual tone alloy wheels. It is optionally available with a reverse camera and sensors.

The SUV gets a 223-litre boot space but this increases to 539 litres when the third row seats are folded.The second row seats adjusts with an easy One Touch Tilt & Tumble in a 60:40 configuration while the third row seats comes in a 50:50 split configuration and full tumble. Leather seats and rear air-conditioning are standard.

The BR-V, unveiled by International Trade and Industry minister Datuk Sri Mustapa Mohamed, is on display at the show until Nov 12. It will be going on a tour of Malaysia after that. The model is expected to be launched in the country early next year.

Other activities at the Honda booth include the chance for visitors to ride and experience Honda’s personal mobility device UNI-CUB β. Honda Malaysia is also using the show to promote the Accord, Civic and City.

The show runs until Nov 13.
