Honda Civic bags CarSifu's  'Car of the Year' title - VIDEO

PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia’s Civic TC-P sedan has clinched the “Car of the Year” title of the inaugural CarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards.

The sporty 1.5-litre turbocharged sedan had also won the Best Mid-Size Car category, one of the 22 categories being contested by a field of 48 cars. The Civic TC-P won because of its advanced styling, features package, sharp handling, comfortable ride and accessible pricing of RM135,800 on-the-road.

Among winners in other categories were the Proton Persona, BMW 330e, Mazda CX-3, Mercedes-Benz GLE 400, Nissan X-Trail Impul, Renault Captur and Volvo XC90 (see table below).

The awards, organised by Star Media Group, recognises the automotive industry as one of the key pillars of the economy and the brands which have become its driving force.

In his speech, Lee noted that the government had, via the National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2014, further facilitated more competition and growth in the automotive industry.

"There are also customised incentives for the local assembly of hybrid and electric vehicles," he said.

Also present at the event were heads and representatives of car companies, Star Media Group chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, chief operating officer Calvin Kan and chief revenue officer Lim Bee Leng.


Three cars to represent the winners were parked in the hotel ballroom where the gala dinner was held. They were the Perodua Bezz, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and of course the turbocharged Honda Civic.

Kan said the awards aims to recognise one of the key pillars of the economy, and the brands that form the driving force behind an exciting local automotive industry.

“It’s an uncertain period but also one of the most exhilarating. Today, we witness the engineering of car-to-car communication, autonomous driving, as well as hybrid, electric and hydrogen propulsions that are reshaping the world of mobility, and the way we move about and interact with automobiles,” he said.

"Through its motoring arm Carsifu, Star Media Group applauds the creativity and ingenuity in the automotive industry."

Some of these winning cars, along with several latest models in the local market, will be presented at the Carsifu Auto Show 2016, to be held the new wing of 1 Utama Shopping Centre from Oct 26 until 30.

Visitors can enjoy test-drives on a route around Bandar Utama, and expect attractive sales promotions.
